Do You Need Tear Trough Treatment? | It Is Not Right For Everyone

We see and treat a lot of clients for tear trough hollowing on clients of both sexes and differing ages.

Through experience, we have found that many think this is the solution for other under eye issues such as darkening circles for which is it not.
Below is some information on tear trough treatment and hopefully should shed some light on whether or not it is right for you!

WHAT IS USED FOR TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT?

Tear Trough treatment is a “filling” process and for this Hyaluronic acid based dermal filler is injected under the eye within the “trough”. Given that there is very thin skin under the eye it is very important that very high quality dermal filler is used to minimise the chance of lumps/bumps.
At L1P Aesthetics we ensure that we use premium products that are licensed for the treatment of Under-eye orbital hollowing

HOW LONG DOES TEAR TROUGH FILLER LAST?

The length at which a tear trough treatment will last is very person dependant. On average we would expect to see results lasting from 6-18 months. The lifestyle you lead will heavily impact on the longevity of results. Factors that can reduce the results include: age, skin type, lifestyle, and overall muscle activity, all of which can effect degrading of the product over time.

WHAT AFTERCARE IS REQUIRED AFTER TREATMENT?

As with all aesthetic services proper aftercare is needed to ensure recovery is swift and the results are optimised. At L1P we advise the use of Arnica cream for post tear trough treatment.
We have found Arnica to be very effective at reducing swelling and the amount of bruising under the eye. We suggest application at before bed and allow to sit overnight for the most effective results. Patients should resist touching the area for at least six hours following the filler treatmentAfter this time they can gently wash the area with water and soap.

CAN TEAR TROUGH FILLER SMOOTH OUT LINES?

Tear trough fillers are often used to fill the hollows under the eyes, and they can restore the volume that is lost as the ageing process begins to take hold. However, before a patient can receive tear trough fillers, the skin around the eyes should be as thick and healthy as possible. A consultation is required to advise of possible outcomes, risks and benefits of treatment.
